"Stardate" is not just another program to calculate a Star Trek like
socalled stardate but a program to calculate a form of date which has
some advantages over the normal form of how to write dates. First, it
is easy to sort if used in texts or lists. Second, you don't have to
remember the queer sequence 31,28/29,31,30,31,30,31,31,30,31,30,31.
Third, it is much easier to calculate timespans -- how much time lies
between 9:45 and 11:10? And how much between the 24-th of february and
the 12-th of october?
My form of stardate is combined of three parts: first the year since
the birth of Jesus Christ. Second the number of the day in that year.
The third part may contain the part of that day in any accurancy up to
6 digits. A stardate may for example look like 2401142.34 which would
mean the 142-th day of the year 2401 where 0.34 of that day is over.
When calling "Stardate" without parameters it will show the actual
stardate (if your Amiga clock is ok, of course). When called with a
stardate or a date "Stardate" will convert that form of date into the
other.
"StardateClock" is a simple clock for the Workbench to show the actual
stardate.
"Stardate" shows hundredth seconds, but is inexact there, since the
Amiga clock is updated nearly every sixtieth second.
Installation:
Copy "Stardate" in any directory which is in the path. "C:",
"SYS:Utilities/" or "SYS:Tools/" are good choices. Copy
"StardateClock" and "StardateClock.info" (with drag and drop) in any
directory. Start "Stardate" from Shell (CLI) and "StardateClock" with
a double click from Workbench.

"Stardate" ist nicht bloß ein weiteres programm um eine Star Trek
ähnliche sogenannte sternzeit zu berechnen, sondern ein programm das
mit einer form der datumsangabe rechnet die ein paar vorteile
gegenüber der normalen art daten anzugeben hat. Erstens sind diese
daten einfach zu sortieren wenn sie in texten oder listen verwendet
werden. Zweitens brauchst du dir die komische folge 31,28/29,31,30,31,
30,31,31,30,31,30,31 nicht zu merken. Drittens lassen sich längen viel
besser berechnen -- wieviel zeit liegt zwischen 9:45 und 11:10? Und
wieviel zeit liegt zwischen dem 24-ten februar und dem 12-ten oktober?
Meine form der sternzeit besteht aus drei teilen: zuerst das jahr seit
der geburt von Jesus Christus. Zweitens die nummer des tages in diesem
jahr. Als dritten teil kann es den verstrichenen teil dieses tages in
einer genauigkeit bis zu sechs stellen enthalten. Die sternzeit
2401142.34 bezeichnet zum beispiel den 142-ten tag im jahr 2401; Und
von diesem tag sind bisher 0.34 teile vergangen.
Wird "Stardate" ohne parameter aufgerufen, zeigt es die aktuelle
sternzeit an (vorausgesetzt die uhr deines Amigas ist OK). Wird
"Stardate" mit einem datum oder einer sternzeit aufgerufen,
konvertiert es diese angabe in das jeweils andere format.
"StardateClock" ist eine einfache uhr für die Workbench; Sie zeigt
laufend die aktuelle sternzeit an.
"Stardate" zeigt hundertstel sekunden an, ist dabei aber ungenau da
die uhr des Amiga nur etwa jede sechzigstel sekunde aktualisiert wird.
