Description:
ORACLE - La Légende de / The Legend of
A first-person 3D dungeon crawler RPG in the Dungeon Master
tradition, written in AMOS Professional between 1996 and its last
known beta (v0.3d, 13/12/1996). Originally planned as ShareWare,
the project was never finished or released commercially.
This archive contains the AMOS Pro source code (.asc), released
as open source under the MIT License so it can be preserved,
studied, compiled, and possibly completed by the community.
If you just want to play the game without installing AMOS
Professional, see the companion archive in game/role instead:
Oracle-ADF.lha, a ready-to-run compiled disk image.
Features implemented in this build:
- First-person corridor rendering (walls, floor, ceiling, doors)
- NPCs with basic movement and combat AI
- Auto-map, drawn cell by cell as the player explores
- Clickable-zone UI (movement, inventory, spells, disk, pause)
- Sound effects and music via the AMCAF extension
- Animated doors (Amal scripting)
This archive also includes a set of unused graphical assets by
Thes (Eric), produced during development but never integrated
into the game logic: a merchant screen, a character creation
screen, player character head portraits, a cave-type dungeon
level set, and designs for new monsters. They're kept here for
reference and as a starting point for anyone wanting to pick up
and finish these features.
Docs/photos_cahier_code/ contains scanned photos of the author's
original 1996 paper notebook (routines, map file layout, enemy
handling notes).
Requires AMOS Professional with the AMCAF and Turbo v1.9
extensions installed to open, edit, or compile:
- AMCAF (Chris Hodges): Pt Sam Play, Bank Font, Audio.device
reservation, task priority handling.

- Turbo v1.9 (Manuel André): Turbo Draw, used throughout the
S_3D and S_MAP rendering code.

- Both extensions are also listed on the Exotica AMOS extensions
wiki (AMCAF slot 8, Turbo/Turbo Plus slot 12):

A full technical README (source structure, .Map file format,
known quirks, ideas for future development) is included in the
archive: README.md (English) and LISEZMOI.md (French).
