The  Smail  program  replaces  Dillons sendmail to become the UUCP mail
    transport  mechanism.  This Smail is based on Unix Smail V2.5.  I adapt
    some Unix function (like getloginname() getuid() etc.) to the Amiga and
    added some extensions (like BSMTP etc.)

    New Features:

           o assert() functions insert

           o timezones can now be converted via a internal database

           o fixed error in redirection while aliasing

           o fixed error while aliasing after a pipe alias

           o installer script updated

           o Smail uses now GNU database routines for path and alias files
             (great time saving if you search a path in path database)

           o Smail uses the newest version of getopt()

    Special requirements:

     * At least Kickstart and Workbench 2.04.

     * DillonUUCP or AUUCP+ environment

     Although Ralph's last version was 3.29, he only sent me the axsh
version and I never received any of the other binaries.  I managed to track
him down and he is now at University away from his Amiga.  He promised he
would send me the necessary binaries as soon as he was able.  For a more
robust SMTPd deamon, try out GetSMail which I rewrote for use with
AmigaSmail-AXSH.  Thanks go to Phil Stokes <philstokes.demon.co.uk> who
was nice enough to lend me the source for the original GetMail.  GetSMail
as of this writing is at version 2.7 and allows Domain (As does AmigaSmail)
along with IP netblock banning.  These two working together are one
powerful tool for the prevention for Spam.  It also supports EHLO greetings
as well.  GetSMail & GetMail can be found at

     AmigaSmail falls under the GNU public licence.  Although included
under this licence, I am sure Ralph would appreciate something in return be
it a kind word of praise or some such.  :-)  Allthough the software was
labeled Beta, I have been using it for the last two years without any snags
what so ever.
